Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, And Key Leaders Honor Dr. Manmohan Singh’s Legacy

On Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other prominent political figures visited the residence of the late Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi to pay their respects. Dr. Singh, who passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday night, was mourned by leaders from across the political spectrum.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his deep sorrow, calling Dr. Singh’s leadership and contributions to the nation’s progress unparalleled. “Dr. Manmohan Singh’s vision and integrity as a leader will forever remain etched in India’s history,” Modi said in a statement, reflecting on the former Prime Minister’s lasting legacy.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid his final respects, highlighting Dr. Singh’s stature as both a statesman and a distinguished economist. Shah emphasized the pivotal role Dr. Singh played in shaping India’s modern economic policies, particularly his leadership during crucial periods of economic reform.

In addition, BJP President and Union Minister JP Nadda joined the tribute, acknowledging Dr. Singh’s unwavering commitment to public service throughout his long and illustrious career.

Condolences From Across The Political Spectrum

Dr. Singh’s passing resonated deeply within the political community. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat expressed his condolences, reflecting on Dr. Singh’s remarkable journey from humble beginnings to the highest office in the country.

The official RSS handle post on social media, stating, “The entire nation is deeply saddened by the demise of former Prime Minister and senior leader Dr. Sardar Manmohan Singh.” The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh expresses heartfelt condolences to his family and countless admirers. Dr. Singh, rising from a humble background, adorned the highest office of the country.”

In recognition of Dr. Singh’s contributions, the Central government declared a seven-day period of national mourning, lasting until January 1, 2025. A notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs directed all states and Union Territories to lower the national flag to half-mast during this period.

The government announced that Dr. Singh’s last rites would take place with full state honours, highlighting the nation’s profound gratitude for his decades of public service.

As India mourns the loss of one of its most influential leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s legacy endures. His visionary policies and steady leadership have left an indelible mark on the country’s growth, positioning India as an emerging global power.
