Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a strong attack on the Opposition during his rally in West Champaran. He urged voters to press the EVM button so hard on November 6 and 11 that its echo reaches Italy.
His remarks came as part of the NDA’s campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections.
Addressing a massive crowd, Shah invoked what he described as the ‘Jungle Raj’ era under Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, claiming that Bihar’s voters would never allow the state to slip back into that phase of “lawlessness and corruption.”
He said the NDA government restored peace, stability, and governance after years of chaos and misrule.
Shah also attacked the Congress and the RJD, saying, “One leader wants to make her son the Prime Minister, and the other wants to make his son the Chief Minister. But the chair in Delhi and the chair in Patna are not vacant.”
Shah alleged that the Lalu-Rabri government shut several sugar mills, highlighting Bihar’s industrial decline. He promised that the NDA would revive the closed mills and boost employment opportunities if voted back to power.
The Home Minister reassured Jeevika Didis, the women’s self-help group members, about government funds. He said they would not need to repay any money.
Instead, he said, the government would provide an additional ₹2 lakh to every member to strengthen rural women’s empowerment.
Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, Shah said the Modi government had shown strong leadership on national security since 2014, citing the abrogation of Article 370 as a bold step that demonstrated India’s resolve.
He accused opposition parties of supporting criminal elements and spreading misinformation among voters.
“Do not let these forces mislead you,” he said, urging the public to stand firmly with the NDA.
Shah campaigned for Samridh Verma, the NDA candidate from the Sikta constituency, and concluded his address by calling on supporters to vote decisively for NDA candidates.
Authorities tightened security around the rally venue. Bihar will hold the first polling phase on November 6 and the second on November 11.
