President Droupadi Murmu will deliver her address to the nation at 7 PM on Wednesday, marking the eve of the 78th Independence Day.

The address will be broadcast first in Hindi, followed by an English version, with regional language translations to follow.

In her 2023 address, President Murmu praised India’s resilience and its role as a beacon of hope.

She highlighted the country’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities, noting significant GDP growth and leadership within the G-20.

The President also celebrated advancements in education and science, referencing the National Education Policy 2020 and the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission.

“Education is the greatest tool for social empowerment,” she stated, emphasizing the policy’s positive impact.

President Murmu further urged a focus on women’s empowerment, asserting that economic empowerment is crucial for women’s roles in families and society.

She called on citizens to support women’s advancement, connecting this goal to the ideals of the freedom struggle.

In addition to her address, President Murmu will inaugurate Amrit Udyan, a new garden within Rashtrapati Bhavan, later in the day.

The garden will be open to the public from Friday until 15 September.

Key attractions include a stone abacus, sound pipe, and music wall. Visitors will receive eco-friendly seed papers infused with Tulsi seeds as mementos.
