President Approves Prof Yogesh Singh’s Reappointment As Delhi University Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Yogesh Singh has been reappointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi for a second five-year term, effective October 8, 2026.

The Ministry of Education has reappointed the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Prof. Yogesh Singh, for a second five-year term. The new tenure will come into effect on October 8, 2026.

The appointment was announced through an order issued by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education on July 2, 2026. According to the official notification, the decision was taken after receiving the approval of the President of India, who serves as the Visitor of the University.

The order stated that the provisions of the University Act, Statutes and Ordinances would govern Prof. Singh’s second term.

The Ministry has formally communicated the appointment to the Registrar of the University of Delhi. The notification has also been shared with the Delhi Technological University, the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), and other concerned institutions.

During his first tenure, Prof. Yogesh Singh focused on strengthening university administration, academic reforms and digital systems.

His reappointment is expected to ensure continuity in these initiatives while further improving the standards of higher education.

The University of Delhi is regarded as one of India’s premier higher education institutions, and key administrative decisions at the university are closely watched across the country.

The Ministry of Education said the reappointment has been made in accordance with the prescribed rules and the established selection process.
