Political Turmoil Intensifies in Jharkhand, meeting called on January 3 at CM residence auditorium, presence of alliance MLAs necessary

Following the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed from the Gandey assembly seat in Jharkhand, the political landscape in the state has erupted into a whirlwind of activity. Opposition forces are in full swing, adding to the escalating tension. Against this backdrop, an imperative meeting has been called for all MLAs belonging to the alliance parties. The meeting is scheduled to take place on January 3 at the Chief Minister’s residence auditorium on Kanke Road, Ranchi. All coalition government MLAs have been expressly requested to attend this crucial assembly, as confirmed by JMM’s Central General Secretary, Vinod Kumar Pandey, through an official letter.

Earlier reports had suggested a meeting of the ruling party slated for January 4. However, the resignation of Gandey MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed has stirred diverse speculations. Notably, BJP MP from Godda, Nishikant Dubey, sparked controversy with a tweet insinuating the potential resignation of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and the ascension of his wife, Kalpana Soren, to the Chief Ministerial position.

Meanwhile, significant discussions took place at the Chief Minister’s residence earlier today. This meeting delved into several pertinent issues, intensifying the prevailing political climate.

The ongoing saga surrounding the seventh summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has added to the political circles’ speculation. The summons, dispatched on December 29, called for the CM’s interrogation, seeking information on his availability. Amid apprehensions of ED action, the Jharkhand coalition government is exploring alternative strategies. There’s speculation that CM Hemant Soren might opt to approach the courts rather than appearing before the ED. Challenging any potential warrants issued against him in the Supreme Court could potentially pave a smoother path forward, considering several ongoing cases related to ED summons are currently under the Supreme Court’s purview.

The intricate web of developments surrounding the resignation, political meetings, and ED summons has plunged Jharkhand’s political arena into a state of uncertainty, with stakeholders closely watching every move amidst this intense period of speculation.
