Gangster–turned–politician, Atiq Ahmed was produced in front of the Prayagraj Court today. He was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in the Umesh Pal murder case. He was brought to court with complete security deployment.


Lawyer of Atiq Ahmed questions police remand

Atiq Ahmed’s Lawyer has questioned the police remand. He asked, “Why does the police need to remand when Atiq is already in jail and that too in a high-profile one? In such a situation, what is the need for interrogation? We will oppose this?”

As Atiq arrived for his court appearance on Thursday, attorneys caused chaos on the grounds of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Prayagraj. By using Atiq’s name, the lawyers in the CJM court insulted him.

Lawyers protest outside the CJM court

Outside the CJM court in Prayagraj, advocates protested for the implementation of the Advocates Protection Act. Atiq Ahmed, a former mafia member who became a politician, and his brother Ashraf were brought in today in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal.

Even before the hearing, Atiq’s health was getting worse. He asked the jail administration to meet his son Ali. Outside the CJM court, Atiq’s posters were posted, calling for action against his close friends who were involved in land mafia activities.

Umesh Pal Case briefed

Atiq Ahmed was transported by road from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat to Prayagraj for his production, whereas his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf was transported from a jail in Bareilly.

On February 24 of this year, shots were fired outside Umesh Pal’s home in Prayagraj’s Dhoomanganj neighborhood, killing him along with his two police security guards. Umesh Pal was a key witness in the 2005 murder trial of BSP MLA Raju Pal.
