Police in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, have initiated the process of seizing the residence of Shariq Satha, identified as the alleged mastermind behind the violent incidents in the district.
The property, situated in the Nakhasa police station area, is being attached under explicit court instructions, with measures in place to maintain law and order.
The operation involves the deployment of Additional Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh, Circle Officer Kuldeep Kumar, officers from three local police stations, and one company of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).
Senior officials are present at the site to oversee proceedings. A flag march has been conducted in the area, accompanied by a drummer, to ensure public order during the property attachment.
Court Orders and Official Statements
ASP Kuldeep Singh told IANS, “A Non-Bailable Warrant had already been issued against the accused. Today, after receiving a certified copy of the warrant from the Secretariat, the police administration carried out a raid at the accused’s residence. Action will be taken under the warrant. For this operation, forces from four police stations and a PRO team were deployed.”
Tehsildar Dhirendra Pratap Singh confirmed that the court’s directions are being implemented.
“The orders of the court are being implemented in 84 BNS, and the property in question had been identified earlier. The court order received regarding this property is being executed on-site today,” he said.
Shariq Satha has been absconding since the outbreak of violence in Sambhal in November 2024. Despite persistent efforts by the police and the Special Investigation Team (SIT), he has not been apprehended. Three members of his network have already been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the case.
Authorities allege that Satha fled to Dubai in 2020 using a fraudulent passport. He is also accused of engaging in organised criminal activity, including the theft of around 300 vehicles each year.
Following his release from jail in Delhi, he repeatedly evaded law enforcement agencies. Investigators are also examining his support network, which may be providing financial or legal aid abroad. Plans are being made to issue a Red Corner Notice to ensure his return to India.
The property seizure is part of a broader strategy to enforce court orders and disrupt Satha’s criminal network. It also aims to reinforce law enforcement’s commitment to maintaining accountability and upholding justice.
