A high-level conference was held by the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday to assess Tamil Nadu’s post-flood condition. According to official sources, PMO representatives met with Tamil Nadu government employees to talk about relief and recovery efforts in the region.
During the conference, topics included the National Disaster Response Force’s (NDRF) deployment and the availability of military support, particularly helicopters, in case of emergency. The officials discussed a central interministerial team’s visit to evaluate the devastation and damage brought on by the state’s floods.
Tamil Nadu’s situation following the flood
Recently, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu experienced severe damage due to heavy rain. The district most severely damaged, where floodwaters have not yet subsided, is Thoothukudi. Additionally, several districts’ communication networks have suffered greatly as a result of the flood.
The state’s recent floods claimed 35 lives. Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena disclosed that there were twelve fatalities in Tirunelveli district and twenty-two in Thoothukudi district.
“The rescue mission is now over. Right now, the restoration of essential services is our top priority. Sadly, 35 deaths have been linked to these floods—22 in the district of Thoothukudi and 13 in the district of Tirunelveli—Meena said ANI.

What Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said on flood situation in the state
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin highlighted that unprecedented rainfall happened in many districts of the state. He gave details of rescue operations being undertaken for the welfare of the people.
“Heavy rainfall was received in Chennai and surrounding districts. In history, we have never seen this much rainfall in the Thoothukudi district. For rescue operations, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed,” CM Stalin said.
