Before the second phase of Assembly polling in West Bengal on April 29, PM Narendra Modi shared an open letter in Bengali addressed to the people of the state. He reflected on his campaign journey and acknowledged the response he received.
मैंने इस पत्र में उनके… pic.twitter.com/IKH447nWn2

The Prime Minister wrote that his time campaigning across the state reminded him of the feelings he experienced. He said those feelings were similar to what he felt during the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya in January 2024.
“I felt a unique internal force and inspiration during my campaign in West Bengal. Despite back-to-back campaign programmes, and that too in this scorching heat, I never felt tired. I felt like visiting a holy place at every campaign rally and roadshow,” PM Modi wrote.
“Every time I met the devotees of Goddess Kali, I felt as if the Goddess was providing me with that internal strength. During the inauguration of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya in January 2024, I went through several rituals for 11 days, including fasting. During my campaign rallies in West Bengal this time, I had the same feeling,” the letter stated.
PM Modi conveyed his gratitude for the enthusiasm shown by the public. He noted that their affection had a lasting impact on him.
“After every such programme, I used to watch pictures of the programmes, read messages of love through letters from different people, and also reply to those letters. The love that I received from the people of West Bengal is the greatest asset in my life,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister noted that he sensed a strong desire for progress among residents during his campaign interactions. He said this was especially evident among young people.
“The youth want a free environment to move forward in life. Women want open skies and free movement. Every citizen and every family in West Bengal wants change. They have spent a long time in fear. Now they want trust. Now they want the Bharatiya Janata Party to govern the state,” he said.
The Prime Minister stated that he views serving the people of the state as an important responsibility. He added that ensuring their security is also a key duty.
“It will be a great honour for me to convert every challenge in West Bengal into an opportunity and a prospect. I will never move away from that responsibility. I am eager to celebrate the oath ceremony of a BJP Chief Minister with all of you next month,” he added.
As voting proceeds in phases, the results will decide the future leadership of West Bengal, with political parties closely monitoring developments.
