Prime Minister Narendra Modi will engage with Chief Ministers on Friday via video conference to assess preparedness and review state-level action plans in response to the ongoing West Asia crisis.
The Centre aims to ensure coordinated efforts across the country under the spirit of ‘Team India’, officials said.
As geopolitical tensions escalate and their global impact deepens, the interaction will allow the Prime Minister to brief state leaders and build a broader consensus on India’s response strategy.
Officials confirmed that Chief Ministers from election-bound states will not participate due to the Model Code of Conduct.
The Cabinet Secretariat will instead organise a separate meeting with Chief Secretaries from these states.
Earlier this week, the government convened an all-party meeting at the Parliament House complex in New Delhi after the Prime Minister addressed the West Asia situation.
During his address, PM Modi announced the creation of seven empowered groups to develop strategies on fuel, supply chains, fertilisers, and other critical sectors to mitigate the impact of the Iran-Israel-US conflict.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the all-party meeting and brought together senior leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
After the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said he appreciated all parties’ participation and confirmed that the government addressed Opposition concerns, with parties extending support to its measures.
Leaders, including Mukul Wasnik, Tariq Anwar, John Brittas, and Dharmendra Yadav, also attended. These consultations come amid rising instability in West Asia, which has disrupted key maritime routes and raised concerns about the safety of Indian nationals in Gulf countries.
