New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to New Zealand next week for his first official bilateral visit to the country.
He described the upcoming visit as a significant step in further expanding cooperation between the two nations.
Sharing the announcement on X, PM Luxon said he looked forward to welcoming the Indian Prime Minister and highlighted India’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.
He added that India’s continued growth offers enormous opportunities for New Zealand’s long-term economic future.

The visit follows the signing of the India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement in April, which both governments view as a breakthrough in bilateral economic relations.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said the agreement will create new jobs, boost exports, and drive economic growth across New Zealand.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Auckland on 10 July and conclude his two-day visit on 11 July.
Agreement Offers Mutual Economic Benefits
The Free Trade Agreement will remove tariffs on 95 per cent of New Zealand’s exported goods, making its products more competitive in the Indian market.
In return, India will receive duty-free access to essential manufacturing inputs such as timber logs, coking coal, and metal scrap, helping industries lower production costs and strengthen supply chains.
The pact also expands agricultural cooperation by introducing an agri-technology initiative aimed at supporting Indian farmers through expertise in kiwi fruit, apple, and honey cultivation.
The forthcoming visit builds on the momentum generated by Prime Minister Luxon’s visit to India in March 2025, when both leaders initiated negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement and signed several accords covering defence, horticulture and forestry.
