PM Modi Targets Congress Over LWE As Chhattisgarh Marks 25 Years Of Statehood

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp and veiled attack on the Congress. He accused those who “pretend to uphold the Constitution and shed crocodile tears in the name of social justice” of committing decades of injustice for political gain.

PM Modi accused the Congress governments of depriving Chhattisgarh of basic infrastructure, roads, schools, and hospitals.

He said the state continued to suffer under the grip of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE).

PM Modi addressed the Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav in Nava Raipur on the state’s 25th foundation day. He said the people had suffered 50-55 years of pain and hardship due to Maoist terrorism.

“Those who ruled the country for decades abandoned the people to their fate while enjoying the comforts of power,” he charged, making an indirect reference to the Congress-led UPA regimes.

PM Modi said he could not tolerate “countless mothers weeping for their children” and resolved in 2014 to free the country from Maoist terror.

“Eleven years ago, over 125 districts were affected; today, only three remain with traces of Maoist activity,” he declared, asserting that “the day is not far when Chhattisgarh and India will be completely free from Maoist terrorism.”

PM Modi highlighted a surge in surrenders, noting that over 200 Maoists laid down arms in Bastar on October 17.

He said more than 20 surrendered recently in Kanker, along with several others across India. They were carrying bounties worth lakhs and crores. “They have now embraced the Constitution,” he said.

He added that eliminating terror has transformed once-forbidden zones.

Chilkapalli village in Bijapur received electricity after seven decades, and Rekawaya in Abujhmad got its first school since Independence.

Puvarti, once a Maoist stronghold, now proudly hoists the Tricolour, replacing the red flag.

PM Modi said Bastar, once synonymous with insurgency, now hosts vibrant events like the Bastar Pandum and Bastar Olympics, reflecting peace and normalcy.

“Imagine how far Chhattisgarh has progressed despite Naxalism, and how much faster it will grow once it’s completely overcome,” he said, stressing the state’s crucial role in building a developed India.

Along with his anti-LWE message, PM Modi inaugurated multiple development projects worth over ₹14,260 crore. These projects cover key sectors such as roads, industry, healthcare, and energy.

Major initiatives include constructing a ₹3,150 crore four-lane highway connecting Jharkhand and setting up new medical colleges.

The government also established power substations and launched the Nagpur–Jharsuguda gas pipeline.

Addressing the youth, PM Modi said, “This is your time; no goal is beyond your reach.”

Assuring full government support for Chhattisgarh’s growth, he concluded, “Together, we will advance Chhattisgarh and the nation.”

Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the event. Union Ministers Jual Oram, Durga Das Uikey and Tokan Sahu also joined the ceremony.
