Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi are set to intensify their election campaigns in Kerala on Saturday, signalling a crucial phase in the run-up to the Assembly elections.
As political activity gathers pace, both leaders are focusing on key constituencies to consolidate support ahead of polling.
Kerala will head to the polls on April 9 to elect 140 legislators, making the coming days vital for all major political players.
Rahul Gandhi plans an extensive campaign, covering multiple districts including Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Idukki in a single day, as the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) sharpens its strategy to regain power in the state.
Party sources indicate that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may soon begin another round of campaigning, particularly focusing on Wayanad, a politically significant constituency associated with Rahul Gandhi.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi is leading the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign push with a major rally in Thiruvalla, followed by a high-profile roadshow in Thiruvananthapuram’s Nemom constituency.
The event will showcase the party’s strength and energise its cadre.
The BJP considers Nemom strategically important because it secured its only Assembly victory in the state there in 2016.
The party is now making a determined effort to regain lost ground and expand its presence.
With both national parties deploying their top leadership, Kerala has emerged as a key political battleground.
The parallel campaigns underline the intensity of the contest, as leaders aim to influence voter sentiment and gain momentum in the final stretch before polling.
