Prime Minister Narendra Modi orchestrated an unprecedented road show today in his parliamentary stronghold of Varanasi, marking a significant moment in his campaign. Commencing on Monday evening, the spectacle commenced with the ceremonial garlanding of the statue of Madan Mohan Malviya, followed by a solemn half-hour worship at the revered Baba Vishwanath temple. Winding through the wide avenues of Banaras, the Prime Minister’s procession drew the gaze of thousands, who eagerly received his greetings.
Draped in a Banarasi towel at Ravidas Gate, Prime Minister Modi embarked on a 5-kilometer journey over three hours, traversing the city’s landmarks in an open vehicle. Accompanying him was Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sharing the symbolic ride.
The route, spanning from Malviya Square through Sant Ravidas Gate, Assi, Shivala, Sonarpura, Jangambadi, to Godaulia, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 5,000 women walking alongside Modi’s vehicle. From the onset, Modi was met with a diverse array of well-wishers, ranging from matriarchs to children and elders, all extending warm greetings as he passed.
This grand procession not only showcased Modi’s connection with the people of Varanasi but also served as a prelude to his official nomination filing on May 14.
