PM Modi Vows To Protect Farmers & Workforces Amid US Tariff Threats

In his Independence Day address, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to protecting farmers, fishermen, and key workforces. Amid US tariff threats, the Prime Minister vowed not to compromise on the interests of India’s farmers and rural communities.

PM Modi: I Stand as a Shield for Farmers and Fishermen

In a powerful statement, PM Modi emphasised his role as a protector of India’s rural economy.

“Modi stands as a shield for farmers, fishermen and other such workforces of India against any harmful policy. India will never compromise with their interests,” he declared.

PM Modi urged the nation to seize the moment and assert itself in international markets through quality and cost-effective products.

“This is the time to script history. We have to rule the world market. We have to lower production costs. It is time to prove our mettle in global markets with quality products,” he said.

He called on India’s 1.4 billion citizens to channel their efforts toward progress and self-strengthening.

“We should not waste our energy in belittling others; our focus should be on strengthening ourselves,” he added.

Strengthening Agriculture Through Targeted Support

Highlighting his government’s efforts in agriculture, PM Modi announced that around 100 districts had been identified where farmers need extra assistance.

In response, the government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana to bolster agricultural resilience in these areas.

He also pointed to the wide-ranging benefits delivered to small farmers, livestock keepers, and fishermen through schemes like PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, rainwater harvesting, irrigation projects, and distribution of quality seeds.

“Farmers now have confidence in every field,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi proudly stated that India now ranks second globally in the production of wheat, rice, fruits, and vegetables. He underlined the growth of agro-exports, which have reached ₹4 lakh crore, as a testament to the strength of Indian farmers.

“The produce that the farmers of my country cultivate is now reaching the markets of the world,” he noted.

Vision for a ‘Samarth Bharat’

Drawing parallels to the struggle for independence, the Prime Minister called on the nation to take a collective resolve for building a ‘Samarth Bharat’ (Strong India).

“Those who have broken through iron rocks have bent time itself. This is the time, the right time, to bend time itself,” he said.

PM Modi’s speech emphasised resilience and self-reliance, highlighting India’s readiness for global challenges and support for its workforce.
