PM Modi Urges Peaceful Solutions To Global Conflicts During Finland Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasised that military conflict cannot resolve global disputes, highlighting dialogue and diplomacy during a joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in New Delhi.

After bilateral talks at Hyderabad House, PM Modi said India and Finland share a strong commitment to the rule of law and peaceful conflict resolution.

Both countries support efforts to end ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia.

“India and Finland believe in the rule of law, dialogue, and diplomacy. Military conflict alone cannot resolve any issue. We will continue to support all efforts to achieve peace at the earliest,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi also stressed the urgent need to reform global institutions to address geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and emerging threats.

“Reforming multilateral institutions is necessary and urgent. Eradicating terrorism in all its forms remains our shared commitment,” he added.

Highlighting growing India–Europe cooperation, the Prime Minister noted that the recently signed India–European Union Free Trade Agreement will boost trade, investment, and technology collaboration with Finland.

“Our partnership is strengthening global stability, growth, and shared prosperity,” he said.

During the visit, India and Finland signed a comprehensive migration and mobility agreement to connect innovation ecosystems and promote talent exchange.

PM Modi said Finland is emerging as a top destination for Indian students and professionals, with the agreement boosting research, technology, and start-up collaboration. He highlighted expanded cooperation in education and teacher training, and noted deeper collaboration in Arctic research.

PM Modi concluded, expressing confidence that India–Finland ties will grow in innovation, sustainability, and technology, jokingly calling it a ‘triathlon’ of progress.
