Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a visit to Motihari in Bihar on July 18, reaffirmed the Central government’s commitment to the development of the state by launching infrastructure projects worth over ₹7,200 crore.
Addressing a large public gathering, he stressed the positive impact of central welfare schemes and the NDA’s vision for a progressive, self-reliant Bihar.
Highlighting the success of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), PM Modi announced that Bihar alone has received 60 lakh pucca houses, out of a total of 4 crore built across India.
In Motihari itself, over 3 lakh families have benefited from the scheme.
Mocking the previous governments, the Prime Minister said, “During the RJD Congress rule, it was not only impossible for the poor to get houses, but people even feared getting their walls whitewashed, fearing abduction.”
PM Modi also outlined the benefits of the newly approved Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, which aims to support underperforming agricultural districts.
The scheme will identify 100 districts with farming potential but low productivity and earnings, benefiting more than 1.75 crore farmers, including a large number in Bihar.
He emphasised that Eastern India, especially Bihar, should emerge as an engine for India’s growth. “As Eastern countries are leading global development, Bihar must lead India’s growth story,” he said.
Speaking on employment, PM Modi highlighted efforts by the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in generating job opportunities within the state. “Lakhs of youth have received appointments under Nitish ji’s leadership, and the Central government stands shoulder to shoulder with Bihar in creating more jobs,” he said.
The Prime Minister assured that multiple sectors are witnessing accelerated development to ensure local employment and economic upliftment.
As part of his visit, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various infrastructure projects, symbolising the NDA’s continued focus on development.
These projects span across roads, railways, education, and healthcare, key sectors for transforming the state’s future.
Concluding his address with a rousing appeal, PM Modi said, “Banayenge naya Bihar, phir ek baar NDA sarkaar”(We will build a new Bihar, with the NDA government once again), signalling both his vision and a call for continued public support.
This visit marks another chapter in the Centre’s development-driven agenda for Bihar, positioning the state as a potential hub for agricultural, industrial, and human capital growth.
Taking to X, PM Modi said, “Grateful to the people of Bihar for the warm welcome. Here are glimpses from the programme in Motihari.”
