Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, commemorating the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The landmark memorial, spread across 65 acres in the Vasant Kunj area of Lucknow, stands as a tribute to Vajpayee’s life, leadership and enduring ideals.
The Prime Minister paid floral tributes to the statues of three towering figures of Indian nationalism — Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
The statues symbolise the values, vision and legacy of leaders who played a defining role in shaping modern India.
PM Modi was accompanied by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers and several senior leaders during the inauguration ceremony.
Their presence underlined the national importance of the memorial and its role in preserving India’s political and ideological heritage.
A Landmark of Inspiration
The Rashtriya Prerna Sthal features imposing 65-foot bronze statues of the three leaders and a state-of-the-art museum designed in the shape of a lotus.
The museum, located adjacent to the memorial, spans around 98,000 square feet and presents India’s national journey and leadership legacy.
The Prime Minister also visited the museum, which showcases the seminal contributions of Vajpayee, Mookerjee and Upadhyaya to public life and nation-building.
Through advanced digital displays and immersive technologies, the museum offers visitors an engaging and educational experience, especially for younger generations.
The inauguration of the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal marks a significant step towards preserving and promoting the ideals of selfless leadership, good governance and national service.
The memorial aims to inspire citizens by highlighting values that shaped India’s democratic and political foundations.
Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Earlier in the day, PM Modi paid tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary, describing him as a guiding light for the nation’s all-round development.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said Vajpayee dedicated his entire life to good governance and nation-building.
PM Modi added that Vajpayee would always be remembered not only as an eloquent orator but also as a spirited poet whose personality, leadership and work continue to inspire India.
