In order to attend the World Climate Action Summit on Friday during the United Nations “Conference of the Parties” on climate change, also known as COP28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Thursday night.
“I traveled to Dubai in order to take part in the COP28 Summit. Shortly after reaching the United Arab Emirates, Modi wrote on social network X, formerly known as Twitter, “We look forward to the proceedings of the summit that aims to create a better planet.”
Prior to his departure for Dubai, Modi made the case for providing developing nations with sufficient funding and technology transfer to help them adapt to climate change.
Modi expressed his happiness that the UAE, a key ally of India in the fight against climate change, is hosting this momentous occasion as president.

“In keeping with our civilizational ethos, India has always laid emphasis on climate action even as we pursue social and economic development,” he stated.
“Climate change was a key issue for us during the G20 presidency. The New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration outlines several specific actions for sustainable development and climate action. In his farewell message, Modi stated, “I look forward to the COP28 carrying forward the consensus on these issues.”
The climate action conference will bring together a number of international leaders to debate strategies for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and successfully addressing climate change. The high-level portion of COP28 is called the World Climate Action Summit.
Modi is also expected to take part in three other important side events. Under the UAE’s presidency, the COP28 is taking place from November 30 to December 12.
According to Modi’s statement, the COP28 will offer a chance to assess the advancements made possible by the Paris Agreement and choose the direction of future climate action.

“At the Voice of Global South Summit convened by India, the Global South spoke for the need for climate action based on the principles of equity, climate justice, and common but differentiated responsibilities, as well as a greater focus on adaptation,” Modi stated.
It is critical that the developing world’s initiatives receive sufficient funding for climate change adaptation as well as technological transfer. To accomplish sustainable growth, they need to have fair access to carbon and development space,” he stated.
Regarding climate action, the prime minister pointed out that India has acted on its commitments.
“Our achievements in different sectors like renewable energy, energy efficiency, afforestation, energy conservation, Mission LiFE are testament to the commitment of our people towards mother earth,” he stated.
The prime minister expressed his excitement about attending special events, such as those on green credit initiatives and climate finance. In addition, Modi is anticipated to have one-on-one talks with a few of the summit attendees, such as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, and recently elected Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu.
