Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a three-nation visit to Cyprus, Canada and Croatia from June 15 to 19, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Saturday.
The diplomatic mission aims to bolster India’s strategic and bilateral relations with crucial global allies, spanning the Mediterranean, North America and the European Union.
First stop: Cyprus
PM Modi will begin his tour with a two-day official visit to Cyprus (June 15–16) at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides.
This marks the first Indian Prime Ministerial visit to the island nation in over two decades.
PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Christodoulides in Nicosia and engage with key business stakeholders in Limassol.
Further, the MEA stated that the visit will reaffirm the shared commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral ties and expand India’s engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.
G-7 Summit in Canada
The second leg of the tour will take PM Modi to Kananaskis, Canada (June 16–17), where he will participate in the G-7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
This will be Prime Minister Modi’s sixth consecutive appearance at the prestigious forum.
He will join G-7 leaders, outreach partners, and heads of international organisations for high-level discussions on global challenges, including energy security, AI and quantum technologies, climate change, and resilient supply chains.
PM Modi will also hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit to reinforce India’s standing as a global stakeholder.
Final stop: Croatia
The tour will conclude with a landmark visit to Croatia on June 18.
Meanwhile, PM Modi will become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the southeastern European nation.
The invitation from Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic marks a new chapter in Indo-Croatian relations.
PM Modi will meet both Prime Minister Plenkovic and President Zoran Milanovic to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, and digital innovation.
The MEA further emphasised that the visit ‘underscores India’s intent to enhance its partnership with the European Union and diversify its diplomatic outreach’.
