Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on Wednesday to lay the foundation stone for AIIMS Darbhanga, along with multiple development projects across the state totaling ₹12,100 crore. In Darbhanga, PM Modi will inaugurate and launch several key infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and healthcare services.

With a budget exceeding ₹1,260 crore, AIIMS Darbhanga will serve as a major healthcare hub, featuring a super-specialty hospital, an AYUSH block, a medical college, nursing college, night shelter, and residential facilities. Once completed, this facility will provide tertiary healthcare to people in Bihar and surrounding regions.

Enhancing Connectivity Through Road and Highway Projects

Aiming to boost regional connectivity, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects valued at around ₹5,070 crore. Among other key projects are the Hajipur to Bachhwara stretch, and new bypasses at Raniganj, Katoria, Lakhpura, Banka, and Panjwara, significantly easing travel across the state.

Expanding Rail Infrastructure and Introducing New Train Services

The Prime Minister will launch railway projects in Bihar worth over ₹1,740 crore. These initiatives include the foundation for the Sonenagar Bypass Railway line in Aurangabad, valued at more than ₹220 crore, and the dedication of other rail projects exceeding ₹1,520 crore.

Key projects include the gauge conversion of the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar Rail section, a new Darbhanga Bypass Railway Line to reduce congestion, and several doubling projects that will improve regional connectivity. PM Modi will also flag off train services in the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar section, with MEMU trains to facilitate easier access to jobs, education, and healthcare in nearby areas.

Launching Affordable Healthcare Access at Railway Stations

Furthering his commitment to affordable healthcare, PM Modi will inaugurate 18 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras at railway stations across India. These centers will ensure the availability of affordable medicines for passengers, promoting awareness of generic medicines and reducing healthcare expenses.

Strengthening the Petroleum and Natural Gas Sector

In the energy sector, PM Modi will initiate projects worth over ₹4,020 crore. These include the development of a City Gas Distribution network to bring piped natural gas to households in Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited will lead this initiative, supporting clean energy access in the region. Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation for a new Bitumen manufacturing unit at the Barauni Refinery. This unit, under Indian Oil Corporation Limited, will reduce reliance on imported bitumen, producing it domestically for road construction and infrastructure.

With these major launches, PM Modi’s visit marks a transformative step in Bihar’s journey towards improved healthcare, connectivity, and clean energy access.
