PM Modi to attend BRICS summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to attend the 15th BRICS Summit on Tuesday. Ahead of his flight to Johannesburg, the Prime Minister issued a statement. In the statement he said that he is looking forward to holding the bilateral meeting. The meeting is to take place with some of the world leaders to discuss multiple issues of the globe. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi will attend the BRICS Summit at Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa’s invitation.
BRICS Summit to discuss the future collaborations
According to Modi, the summit would give its participants a useful chance to pinpoint potential areas of future collaboration and assess institutional advancement. He stated that the BRICS has been actively pursuing a robust agenda of sector-wide cooperation.
“We value that BRICS has become a platform for discussing and deliberating on issues of concern for the entire Global South, including development imperatives and reform of the multilateral system,” he said.
“I am visiting the Republic of South Africa from 22-24 August 2023 at the invitation Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, to attend the 15th BRICS Summit being held in Johannesburg under the South African Chairmanship,” the PMO said quoting Modi.
“I also look forward to holding bilateral meetings with some of the Leaders present in Johannesburg,” Modi added.

Modi to become first PM to visit Greece
According to Modi, he would depart from South Africa and fly to Athens, Greece, on August 25 at Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ invitation, who is the Prime Minister of Greece.
“This will be my first visit to this ancient land. I have the honour to be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Greece after 40 years,” he said.
Our two civilizations have been in contact for more than two millennia, and in recent years, our relations have been enhanced by our shared respect for democracy, the rule of law, and pluralism, he said. Our two nations have been collaborating in a variety of fields, including trade and investment, defense, and cultural and interpersonal ties, he continued.
He looked forward to visiting Greece and opening a new chapter in our multifaceted relationship, Modi said.
