Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme from Tarakeswar in Hooghly district, West Bengal, on Saturday.
Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the government will transfer more than Rs 18,880 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore farmer families across the country.
The instalment will provide financial support to farmers nationwide.
In Gujarat alone, more than 51.28 lakh farmers will receive assistance exceeding Rs 1,025 crore.
The state government will commemorate the occasion with a ‘PM Kisan Utsav Diwas’ programme in Gandhinagar, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and attended by senior Ministers and officials.
As part of the nationwide programme, PM Modi will interact virtually with farmers from different states and address beneficiaries during the event.
Authorities will broadcast the programme live through Krishi Vigyan Kendras, market yards, Farmer Producer Organisations, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, ensuring widespread participation across rural India.
Since its launch in 2019, the PM-Kisan scheme has become one of India’s largest farmer welfare initiatives.
The government has already disbursed 22 instalments, providing cumulative financial assistance of more than Rs 4.28 lakh crore to over 11 crore farmers.
Ahead of his West Bengal visit, PM Modi announced the release of the 23rd PM-Kisan instalment from Tarakeswar and the launch of key agriculture initiatives, including PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Agri Stack, the National Mission on Natural Farming and PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana. He said these programmes would strengthen agriculture and support farmers’ livelihoods. PM Modi will also attend International Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata on June 21.
