On 25 September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Banswara to lay the foundation stone of the country’s largest nuclear power project, valued at around Rs 45,000 crore.

Planned near the Mahi Dam on the Rajasthan–Madhya Pradesh border, the massive project will be developed under the Nuclear Energy Mission. It will likely represent a major stride in India’s pursuit of energy security and clean power initiatives.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will also address a large public gathering, for which arrangements are being jointly managed by the state government and the BJP organisation.

BJP State President Madan Rathore said the Banswara station will not only be the largest in India but will also highlight the region’s rising importance on the national energy map.

The foundation stone-laying event will see the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and several cabinet ministers from both states, marking the project as a joint milestone for Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

In addition to the nuclear project, the PM will likely inaugurate or lay the foundation for several other development works in both states.

The complete list of projects is yet to be formally confirmed.

Extensive preparations are underway for the programme. From security arrangements and venue readiness to roadworks, electricity supply and drinking water facilities, officials are coordinating closely.

Plans are also being made to broadcast the ceremony live so that residents across both states can witness the occasion.

The visit is being seen as a landmark moment to boost infrastructure, power generation, and regional progress. The event will also give momentum to the BJP’s political outreach ahead of key upcoming events.

Review Meeting on Arrangements

On Tuesday, Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department, Abhay Kumar, held a review meeting at the Government Secretariat. He issued detailed instructions to officials of various departments to ensure smooth arrangements for the event.

Kumar directed that preparations be completed swiftly, with attention to VVIP accommodation and public transport to the venue. He called for medical teams with ambulances, uninterrupted electricity and water supply. Mobile toilets and other key facilities were also included in the instructions.

He also stressed that travellers should face no inconvenience. Special focus was placed on road repairs, venue construction, and barricading. He further directed the deployment of fire vehicles, traffic control, parking arrangements, and security passes.

Drinking water points, he said, must be available across all sections of the meeting area.
