Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the northeastern state of Assam and West Bengal on Friday and Saturday to attend several programmes and launch major development initiatives aimed at strengthening connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will attend programmes in Kokrajhar, Guwahati and Silchar before travelling to Kolkata for additional events.
The visit will focus on strengthening regional connectivity, accelerating infrastructure growth and expanding economic opportunities across the Northeast and eastern India.
Ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Modi said he looks forward to interacting with people from both states while launching several development projects.
In a message on X on Thursday, he said the programmes will allow him to engage with local communities and inaugurate initiatives that will benefit the region.

The Prime Minister will begin his Assam visit in Kokrajhar, a region known for the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community.
During the programme, he will lay the foundation stones for several road connectivity projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and economic activity.
Among the key initiatives is Assam Mala 3.0, a major road development programme designed to strengthen internal connectivity in Assam and improve links with neighbouring states.
The Prime Minister will also flag off three new train services to enhance rail connectivity across the Northeast and eastern India.
Officials said these services will improve passenger movement while supporting trade, tourism and economic growth in the region.
After attending programmes in Silchar on March 14, the Prime Minister will travel to Kolkata to participate in additional events in West Bengal.
The visit will further advance the government’s development agenda in eastern and northeastern India.
