On Monday, December 4, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. Around 4:15 p.m., he is expected to arrive in Sindhudurg, where he will attend the unveiling of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue at Rajkot Fort in Medha, Malvan.

As December 4 is celebrated as Navy Day in India, PM Modi is also expected to witness an “Operational Demonstration by Indian Navy” on Monday. Every year on December 4, people celebrate Navy Day. This year, the festivities in Sindhudurg will honor the rich maritime legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630-1680), who built a number of sea forts, including the Sindhudurg Fort.

The new Naval Ensign, which was adopted last year when the Prime Minister commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, was inspired by the seal of the legendary founder of the Maratha Empire.

In addition to providing an overview of the Indian Navy’s multifaceted operations, Navy Day also serves to raise public awareness of maritime issues and the Navy’s contributions to national security.
