Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the International Telecommunication Union – World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly (ITU-WTSA) 2024 at Bharat Mandapam on Tuesday. This marks the first time the ITU-WTSA in India and the Asia Pacific region.

The event is set to attract around 3,000 industry leaders, policymakers, and tech experts from over 190 countries who represent the telecom, digital, and ICT sectors. During the inauguration, PM Modi will also launch the 8th edition of the India Mobile Congress 2024, themed “The Future is Now.”
Focus on Standardization and Innovation
The WTSA serves as the governing conference for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), organized every four years to discuss and establish standards for critical next-generation technologies, including 6G, AI, IoT, Big Data, and cybersecurity.

This year’s assembly provides India with a unique opportunity to influence the global telecom agenda and set the course for future technological advancements. Indian startups and research institutions expect to gain valuable insights into developing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and patents.

The India Mobile Congress 2024 will highlight India’s innovation ecosystem, showcasing advancements in quantum technology and the circular economy. As Asia’s largest digital technology forum, the congress will offer a platform for members to present innovative solutions and state-of-the-art use cases for industry, government, academia, and startups.
