Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday hold a virtual interaction with Chief Ministers to review state-level preparedness as tensions escalate in West Asia.
The meeting will take place via video conferencing and focus on coordinated governance under the ‘Team India’ framework.
During the interaction, the Prime Minister will likely brief state leaders on emerging geopolitical risks and push for a unified response to the evolving situation.
Chief Ministers from poll-bound states will not take part in the meeting due to the Model Code of Conduct.
A separate consultation with the Chief Secretaries from these states will be held through the Cabinet Secretariat.
Earlier, the Centre convened an all-party meeting at the Parliament House complex in New Delhi to discuss the situation.
The session followed the Prime Minister’s address in Parliament, where he outlined measures to mitigate the impact of the ongoing Iran-Israel-US tensions.
He also announced the formation of seven empowered groups to prepare strategies for key sectors, including fuel, supply chains and fertilisers.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the all-party meeting. Senior leaders, including Amit Shah, S Jaishankar, Hardeep Singh Puri and Kiren Rijiju, attended.
Kiren Rijiju said the government addressed concerns raised by opposition leaders, who extended full support to the Centre’s response strategy.
Opposition figures, including Mukul Wasnik, Tariq Anwar, John Brittas and Dharmendra Yadav, were also present.
Rising tensions have disrupted maritime routes and raised concerns over the safety of Indian nationals in Gulf countries.
