PM Modi To Chair High-Level Union Cabinet Meeting Today In New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a pivotal Union Cabinet meeting today at his official residence in New Delhi.

The meeting, scheduled for 11 AM, will take up key policy and national security matters amidst a dynamically evolving domestic and global environment.

This is the first Cabinet meeting since May 14, when the government approved the establishment of a sixth semiconductor manufacturing unit under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).

That approval marked a significant milestone in India’s drive to become a global semiconductor hub.

HCL and global tech giant Foxconn will jointly build the new facility near the upcoming Jewar Airport in the YEIDA region of Uttar Pradesh.

The plant will produce 20,000 wafers and 36 million display driver chips each month, supplying essential components for smartphones, computers, automobiles, and other digital devices.

This decision further solidified India’s semiconductor ambitions, bolstering the country’s ‘Make in India’ and digital economy initiatives.

The latest facility joins five others already in advanced stages of development across the country.

Security Challenges On The Agenda

Today’s Cabinet meeting is also likely to revisit the internal security landscape, especially in light of recent challenges.

The previous session held on April 30 followed the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir on April 22.

During that meeting, Prime Minister Modi reiterated a firm zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and called for a robust assessment of the nation’s security infrastructure and response strategies.

The current meeting is expected to balance economic policy discussions with security reviews.

Observers anticipate further decisions on industrial growth, digital innovation, and infrastructure, alongside deliberations on national safety and regional stability.

Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in chairing these meetings reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to holistic development and resilient national security.

As India tackles key challenges both domestically and internationally, today’s Union Cabinet meeting marks a crucial step in shaping the country’s policy direction.
