Preparations are underway in Malaysia, where the Indian diaspora—one of the largest overseas communities in the country—is eagerly anticipating the visit.
Discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including trade, emerging technologies, energy, and education, while exploring new avenues that align with evolving regional and global priorities.
A major highlight of the visit will be PM Modi’s engagement with the Indian community at a large event titled ‘Selamat Datang Modi Ji’ in Kuala Lumpur, featuring cultural performances and joint addresses by PM Modi and PM Anwar Ibrahim, symbolising the strengthening of bilateral ties.
The visit will bolster trade and strategic cooperation, with the ASEAN India Economic Council (AIEC) reporting that bilateral trade reached approximately USD 20 billion in 2023–24 and continues to grow.
It will reinforce collaboration across trade, finance, security, and cultural exchanges while consolidating people-to-people connections between the two nations.
Delegation-level talks and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding on Sunday will deepen India–Malaysia relations and expand strategic and economic partnerships in the region.
By combining diplomatic engagement, community outreach, and agreements on economic and technological cooperation, PM Modi will strengthen India’s ties with Malaysia.
The visit will also advance regional strategic interests and create opportunities for long-term collaboration, benefiting both countries across multiple sectors. It further showcases India’s commitment to its diaspora and highlights its growing role in the Indo-Pacific region.
