Strengthening energy partnerships will dominate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the United Arab Emirates.

Officials have indicated that both sides are likely to sign two major agreements covering LPG supplies and strategic petroleum storage.

India is also exploring long-term options with the UAE to develop alternative energy supply routes that could bypass the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring greater stability in fuel imports.

As outlined by Sibi George from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister will arrive in the UAE on Friday as part of a wider diplomatic tour.

During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The two leaders will review bilateral relations, focusing on energy collaboration, and discuss regional and global developments.

Prime Minister Modi will commence a six-day journey covering five countries: the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy.

Following his UAE visit, the Prime Minister will travel to the Netherlands, marking his second trip there since 2017. During this leg, he will meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and hold talks with Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

In Sweden, the Prime Minister will visit Gothenburg and engage in discussions with his counterpart, Ulf Kristersson. Talks will span areas such as trade, green transition, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, start-ups, resilient supply chains, defence, space cooperation, and climate initiatives.

Both leaders will also participate in the European Round Table for Industry alongside Ursula von der Leyen.

During the Norway leg, the Prime Minister will attend the 3rd India-Nordic Summit and hold bilateral meetings.

The summit aims to deepen collaboration in innovation, renewable energy, sustainability, defence, space, and Arctic affairs.

The concluding phase of the visit will take place in Italy, where the Prime Minister will meet President Sergio Mattarella and hold discussions with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

PM Modi will also visit the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organisation, highlighting India’s continued engagement with global institutions.

The multi-country visit underlines India’s push to strengthen global partnerships. It also aims to boost energy resilience and widen cooperation in areas such as technology, sustainability, and economic growth.
