PM Modi To Address Rallies In Srinagar And Katra Ahead Of Assembly Elections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address election rallies in Srinagar and Katra today, ahead of the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls scheduled for September 25.

The Prime Minister will hold a public rally at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar around noon, followed by another rally at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Sports Complex in Katra at 3:00 p.m. This marks Modi’s first election rally in the Valley for the ongoing Assembly elections; he previously addressed a public meeting in Jammu’s Doda on September 14.

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh stated that Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir will be a “game changer.” Speaking to reporters after inspecting the stadium on Wednesday, Chugh noted, “The people of J&K love the Prime Minister. In the past, large crowds have welcomed him during his visits. Thursday’s event will be a milestone for the people of J&K.”

Security Measures

The J&K Police have implemented stringent security measures in collaboration with the Special Protection Group (SPG), which oversees the Prime Minister’s security. An SPG team arrived in Srinagar four days prior to coordinate with local authorities regarding the security arrangements.

Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, located in the Ram Munshibagh area of Srinagar, can accommodate a significant number of attendees, and the BJP anticipates a large turnout for Modi’s address. Security personnel will regulate access to the venue, and police have announced traffic diversions to ensure the rally proceeds smoothly.

The police confirmed, “We are following a detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) for the Prime Minister’s visit, ensuring all details are meticulously attended to.” Security forces will occupy high-rise buildings around the venue, enhancing electronic surveillance with human security for a comprehensive safety setup.

The Prime Minister’s visit comes just a day after voting concluded in the first phase of the three-phase J&K Assembly elections.
