Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the concluding session of the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Departmental Summit in New Delhi on Wednesday. He will further address the gathering at approximately 4:30 PM at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan and underline the importance of joint efforts to achieve key national objectives in the water sector.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti is conducting the two-day summit from September 1 to September 2 as part of a larger series of departmental meetings proposed by the Prime Minister.

The initiative brings officials from the Union and state governments together to examine sectoral priorities, identify implementation hurdles and improve coordination.

The participating representatives will, however, develop specific action plans with defined timelines to improve the execution of government programmes.

Officials said the approach seeks to encourage shared accountability and turn policy discussions into measurable improvements in governance and public services.

The summit will examine four important areas within the water sector. These, however, include speeding up water infrastructure projects, expanding Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari – Catch the Rain, protecting the sustainability of drinking water sources and improving rural water supply operations under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0.

The discussions will produce practical measures to address implementation challenges and accelerate ongoing projects.

The recommendations will help governments create a coordinated framework to improve water management and deliver essential services.

The summit will strengthen cooperation between the Centre and states and promote a unified approach to India’s water-sector priorities.
