Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked world leaders for their warm wishes as he marked 25 years in public service.

PM Modi began his political journey as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and went on to become Prime Minister in 2014. He served as Gujarat Chief Minister until taking charge at the Centre.

Responding to messages from leaders across the world, PM Modi highlighted India’s partnerships and shared commitments on development, peace and prosperity.

Thanking Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PM Modi described India and Nigeria as ‘close partners and leading voices of the Global South’. He said he looked forward to further strengthening the Strategic Partnership.

PM Modi thanked Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, saying India valued its enduring friendship with the Caribbean nation.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever and said he looked forward to building on the positive momentum in bilateral ties.

PM Modi thanked Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, reaffirming India’s Strategic Partnership with the Philippines.

Responding to Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, PM Modi highlighted the enduring partnership between the two countries, rooted in mutual trust and understanding.

The Prime Minister thanked Botswana President Duma Boko and said India valued its friendship with Botswana.

PM Modi thanked Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi, recalling her visit to India in July and saying it had further strengthened the India-Japan partnership.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister during a challenging period following the Bhuj earthquake and political difficulties. Over 25 years, his leadership has, however, taken him from Gujarat to the national stage, with his tenure as Prime Minister marked by an expanded global profile for India, stronger ties with major powers and a greater role in the Global South.
