Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday thanked Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić for his warm and heartfelt congratulations after he became India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Thank you President Vučić for your warm and heartfelt wishes. I fondly recall your recent visit to India and our productive discussions. India deeply values its friendship with Serbia and I look forward to working together to further strengthen our partnership in the years ahead.”

Earlier, President Vučić took to the social media platform X to congratulate PM Modi on the historic milestone, describing it as a reflection of the immense trust placed in him by the people of India. He stated that such a long tenure in the country’s highest elected office demonstrates the confidence citizens have in a leader who has devoted his life to public service and national progress.
The Serbian President praised PM Modi’s leadership, saying that the true measure of a statesman lies not merely in the number of years spent in office but in the legacy created, the results achieved and the enduring vision that continues to guide a nation. He also fondly recalled his recent meeting with the Indian Prime Minister, highlighting the atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding that characterised their discussions.
President Vučić said PM Modi’s experience, vision and dedication have earned him respect across the world. He wished the Prime Minister good health, continued success and strength to lead India towards greater prosperity.

The exchange came days after PM Modi completed 12 years in office and became India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.
With 4,399 days in office as an elected Prime Minister, he surpassed the record previously held by Jawaharlal Nehru, becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.
