PM Modi emphasised that India remains committed to further strengthening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership with Russia.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Thank you, my friend, President Putin, for your phone call and warm wishes on my 75th birthday. We are committed to further strengthening our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. India is ready to make all possible contributions towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.”

President Putin Praises PM Modi’s Leadership

Earlier, Putin extended birthday greetings to PM Modi, highlighting his contributions to strengthening bilateral ties between New Delhi and Moscow.

He said, “Your work as head of government has earned you great respect from your compatriots and enormous prestige on the international stage. Under your guidance, India has achieved impressive results in the social, economic, scientific, and technological spheres.”

The Russian President also noted PM Modi’s personal role in promoting mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening the privileged strategic partnership.

“I highly appreciate our close comradeship relations. We will certainly continue our constructive dialogue and joint work on current issues on the bilateral, regional, and international agendas,” Putin added.

Recent SCO Summit Engagement

PM Modi and Putin recently met on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China, where they reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed regional and global issues, including developments concerning the Ukraine conflict.

PM Modi reiterated India’s support for initiatives aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict. He emphasised the need to expedite a cessation of hostilities and work toward a durable peace settlement.

The Prime Minister also informed President Putin that he looks forward to hosting him in India for the 23rd Annual Summit later this year, further consolidating India-Russia ties.
