The Kolkata visit to witness…
The Kolkata Metro extension, which includes the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade Metro section, is a landmark in the country’s infrastructure development as it is the first transportation tunnel in India to cross a major river. PM Modi dedicated and placed the cornerstones for a number of additional projects in Kolkata valued at Rs. 15,400 crores on Wednesday.
Along with the underwater metro, PM Modi also dedicated the Taratala – Majerhat and Kavi Subhash – Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro sections, which are a part of the Joka-Esplanade line in Kolkata, on Wednesday.
The latter comprises the Majerhat Metro Station, an architectural marvel that exemplifies an innovative approach to improving urban mobility by spanning platforms, a canal, and railway lines on an elevated station.
Beyond Kolkata, PM Modi also inaugurates and places the cornerstones for other major national projects as part of the inauguration ceremony.
These include the following: the Agra Metro’s route from Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar; the Pune Metro’s stretch from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi; the Kochi Metro Rail Phase I Extension from SN Junction Metro station to Tripunithura Metro station; and the Duhai-Modinagar (North) portion of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor.
