Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron to review the current situation in West Asia. The exchange focused on the growing instability in the region.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Spoke with my dear friend, President Emmanuel Macron, on the situation in West Asia and the urgent need for de-escalation, as well as a return to dialogue and diplomacy.”
“We look forward to continuing our close coordination to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond,” the post further read.

The conversation took place against the backdrop of escalating tensions. These tensions followed strikes involving the United States and Israel targeting Iran in late February.
These developments led to retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Iran, further aggravating the situation.
Over recent days, PM Modi has reached out to several leaders from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. These interactions highlight India’s proactive diplomatic outreach during the crisis.
Earlier, on Wednesday, PM Modi held discussions with Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah regarding recent developments. He conveyed concerns over the situation and reiterated India’s opposition to any infringement of Kuwait’s sovereignty.
He also expressed appreciation for the support extended to the Indian community residing in Kuwait.
PM Modi also spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the evolving crisis. He strongly condemned attacks that caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure in the UAE.
Both leaders underlined the importance of ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. They agreed to continue working towards restoring stability.
India’s ongoing diplomatic efforts reflect its focus on reducing tensions through dialogue. The engagements signal a broader commitment to fostering peace and stability across West Asia.
