On Sunday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on his third consecutive term as India’s Prime Minister, scheduled for the oath-taking ceremony.
Sources indicate that alongside PM Modi, several members of his council of ministers will also take the oath during the event, marking the commencement of the new government’s tenure.
The prestigious oath ceremony, scheduled to commence at 7:15 PM, will take place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India.
The day commenced with PM Modi paying homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at Rajghat, followed by tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal.
Subsequently, PM Modi visited the National War Memorial where he laid a wreath, accompanied by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a symbolic gesture of reverence to the nation’s fallen heroes.
The upcoming oath-taking ceremony is expected to be graced by the presence of several dignitaries from neighboring countries.
Confirmed attendees include President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, President Mohamed Muizzu of Maldives, Vice-President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of Nepal, and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan.
Notably, PM Modi’s impending oath marks a significant milestone, as he matches the third term in office record set by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who secured victories in the general elections of 1952, 1957, and 1962.
This continuity underscores the confidence reposed by the Indian electorate in PM Modi’s leadership and vision for the nation’s progress and development.
