Enhanced Security, Traffic Advisory Issued Amid PM Modi’s Swearing-In

Anticipating PM Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on Sunday evening, authorities have implemented heightened security measures and issued a traffic advisory for the vicinity of Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory regarding road diversions and restrictions.

The traffic police have announced the closure of several roads surrounding Rashtrapati Bhawan from 2 PM to 11 PM on Sunday.

During this time, authorities will permit only pedestrian movement on Sansad Marg (between Transport Bhawan and T-point Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg), North Avenue Road, South Avenue Road, Kushak Road, Rajaji Marg, Krishna Menon Marg, Talkatora Road, and Pt. Pant Marg.

The advisory prohibits vehicles from halting or parking on Imtiaz Khan Marg, Rakab Ganj Road, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg, Pandit Pant Marg, and Talkatora Road.

Owners of vehicles parked on these roads will face towing and prosecution for improper parking and disobeying lawful instructions.

The towing service will place towed vehicles in the Traffic Pit located at Pandit Pant Marg towards Gole Dak Khana.

Traffic diversions will be in place from Patel Chowk, Roundabout Patel Chowk, Rail Bhawan, Roundabout Gurudwara Rakab Ganj, Gole Dakkhana, Roundabout RML, and Roundabout GPO.

Authorities are advising commuters heading towards ISBT, railway stations, or airports to carefully plan their travel and allocate extra time accordingly.

Section 144 of CrPC Imposed

Meanwhile, they have imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the national capital.

To ensure strict security measures, five paramilitary units have been stationed at both inner and outer perimeters of Rashtrapati Bhavan, along with around Kartavya Path.

According to a senior police officer, the Lutyens Delhi area is under operational air-to-ground surveillance to ensure the safety of the guests. Additional security is provided by positioning snipers around the venue. These measures mirror those deployed during last year’s G20 Summit.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has also prohibited the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms such as para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, and quadcopters on 9 & 10 June.

The Police Commissioner’s order stated that certain criminal, anti-social elements, or terrorists hostile to India may pose a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries, and vital installations through the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms.
