PM Modi Says Schemes, Partnerships Fueling Growth In Green Tech, EV Sectors

PM Modi said that India’s industrial growth in electric mobility & green tech is driven by government schemes and public-private partnerships.

PM Narendra Modi on Saturday said India is witnessing rapid industrial transformation across key sectors such as electric mobility and green technology, supported by focused government schemes and active public-private partnerships.

Replying to a post by Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy on X, the Prime Minister posted, “Union Minister Shri @hd_kumaraswamy writes that India is reshaping its industrial landscape with a strong focus on electric mobility, green technology and self-reliant manufacturing. Targeted schemes and public-private partnerships are driving this transformation.”

Kumaraswamy, in his post, highlighted the role of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision in driving this shift.

The post further read, “From electric mobility to advanced manufacturing, R&D-driven innovation to sustainable infrastructure, we are empowering industries to scale globally while reducing import dependence.”

“Through initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive schemes, FAME, SMPEC, capital goods support programmes and e-bus deployment, India’s heavy industries have grown manifold, ensuring inclusivity, innovation and sustainability,” Kumaraswamy posted.

He further added, “This is how we are shaping a future-ready India, creating jobs, and building technological excellence.”

EV Infrastructure Expansion

According to government data, there are now 29,277 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across India.

Additionally, the PM E-DRIVE Scheme channels ₹2,000 crore to develop robust public charging infrastructure for all types of electric vehicles.

Various ministries, state governments, and stakeholders are jointly implementing this plan.

As of 30 June, a total of 18,84,905 electric vehicles have been supported under the FAME India scheme. Out of these, 16,29,600 vehicles aided under the FAME-II phase.

The government also sanctioned Rs 912.50 crore under FAME-II for the installation of 9,332 public charging stations (PCS). Of these, 8,885 PCS have already been installed, marking significant progress in supporting EV adoption.
