Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reaffirmed that empowering India’s youth remains a central priority, describing them as the driving force behind the nation’s aspiration of becoming a developed country under the Viksit Bharat vision.
While chairing the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, the Prime Minister stated that India’s demographic dividend presents a historic opportunity that the country cannot afford to miss. He emphasised the need to build a robust ecosystem through quality education, industry-oriented skill development and wider employment avenues.
“India’s demographic dividend is a historic opportunity that we cannot afford to lose. Creating the right ecosystem for our youth through quality education, demand-driven skilling, and employment opportunities must remain a priority. Empowered youth will be the driving force behind our journey towards Viksit Bharat,” PM Modi stated.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that India has concluded Free Trade Agreements with several nations to unlock fresh avenues for economic expansion and exports. He noted that these agreements provide significant opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to strengthen their competitiveness, meet international benchmarks and access global markets.
PM Modi underlined that the Centre and states are working in close coordination to accelerate economic progress. He said this collaboration is essential to achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.
“Guided by the spirit of cooperative federalism, we are working together to accelerate India’s development journey. The collective efforts of the Centre and States will play a pivotal role in realising our shared vision of Viksit Bharat,” he asserted.
The theme of this year’s meeting is ‘Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047’.
The deliberations focus on ensuring the welfare and advancement of every citizen irrespective of age, gender, region or socio-economic status.
Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and Union Ministers attended the meeting.
Discussions centred on human capital, future-ready skills, entrepreneurship, decentralised growth, healthcare, nutrition, wellbeing, equity and dignity.
Participants also explored measures to boost entrepreneurship, improve skilling and generate sustainable employment.
The meeting further examined governance reforms, digital public infrastructure, partnerships and data-driven systems.
Participants also discussed outcome-tracking mechanisms to ensure accountability, measure progress and align state priorities with the national development vision.
