Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on her birth anniversary, describing her as a charismatic leader who secured a special place in the hearts and minds of countless people. He said her life reflected immense grit, determination and an unwavering commitment to public service.

Taking to the social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote that Jayalalithaa had distinguished herself as an outstanding administrator who championed welfare-driven governance.

He noted her strong emphasis on women’s empowerment, social justice and inclusive development, adding that she embodied both compassion and decisiveness in leadership.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a clip from Mann Ki Baat in which he described J Jayalalithaa as a widely admired and deeply loved leader.

In the 131st episode, he praised her administrative skill and called their friendship ‘like a sacred tree’ in his heart.

He said she ensured firm law and order, strengthened welfare measures and advanced women’s empowerment in Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister added that he continues to see the public’s deep affection for her during his visits to the state and fondly recalled their discussions on good governance, her attendance at his 2002 and 2012 swearing-in ceremonies, and her Pongal invitation to Chennai.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute, lauding her service to the poor and commitment to women’s empowerment. Popularly known as ‘Amma’, Jayalalithaa remains one of Tamil Nadu’s most influential leaders.
