PM Modi Releases Rs 18,880 Crore Under PM-Kisan Scheme

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme from Tarkeshwar in West Bengal’s Hooghly district.

The government credited more than ₹18,880 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9.44 crore farmers under the latest PM-Kisan instalment.

The government used the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism to send the funds directly to beneficiaries and eliminate intermediaries. It launched the PM-Kisan scheme in 2019 to provide eligible farmer families with annual financial assistance of ₹6,000. It distributes the amount in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 during the financial year.

The latest disbursement delivered over ₹1,025 crore to 51.28 lakh farmers across Gujarat.

Authorities credited the amount straight into beneficiaries’ accounts, ensuring seamless delivery of funds.

Gandhinagar hosted a state-level PM Kisan Utsav Diwas event chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and Minister of State Ramesh Katara participated in the programme.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Patel reiterated the government’s resolve to improve rural incomes through comprehensive agricultural growth and development measures. He underlined Gujarat’s focus on water conservation, adoption of natural farming techniques, and the use of modern agricultural technologies.

CM Patel noted that scientific farming practices can help sustain crop production even during challenging rainfall conditions, while natural farming enhances soil fertility and market value.

Patel announced that authorities have expanded the lake-filling range within the Narmada command area from 3 kilometres to 7 kilometres.

The government has also strengthened support infrastructure, including fencing and storage facilities, for small and marginal farmers.

The CM added that initiatives such as Amrit Sarovar and rainwater harvesting projects are being implemented across the state. These efforts aim to improve water availability and enhance groundwater recharge levels.

Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani said PM-Kisan has emerged as a dependable financial support mechanism for farmers managing cultivation expenses. He emphasised that direct fund transfers have improved transparency, removed middlemen, and reinforced economic stability in rural communities.
