Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday released the Kannada translations of the Valmiki Ramayana and Stories of Vedanta Monks during the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka), established by the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru.
Describing the publications as an important step towards preserving India’s spiritual and literary legacy, the Prime Minister said the translations would make timeless scriptures and philosophical teachings more accessible to Kannada readers, particularly the younger generation. He noted that presenting these works in the mother tongue would encourage young people to develop a deeper understanding of the nation’s cultural and spiritual traditions.
During his visit to the Ramakrishna Ashrama, PM Modi interacted with the monks and commended the institution for its longstanding contribution to society. He praised its efforts in promoting education, values and youth empowerment through the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna.
Later, sharing photographs from the visit on X, the Prime Minister appreciated the Ashrama’s service to society and its role in strengthening India’s youth.

The inauguration of the Viveka Smaraka honoured Swami Vivekananda’s legacy and his historic 1892 visit to Mysuru.
The cultural centre aims to inspire future generations through the ideals of service, character-building and nation-building.
BJP Yuva Morcha National President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya described the inauguration as a historic moment for Karnataka, saying the memorial would inspire young Indians to embrace Swami Vivekananda’s vision of service, discipline and nation-building.
