Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his visit to Tamil Nadu by unveiling several development works in Madurai.
He stated that culturally important locations such as Adichanallur would be upgraded and promoted as world heritage destinations. He reiterated that the Union government remains focused on safeguarding Tamil civilisation and expanding its global visibility.
After the inauguration programme, he travelled to the renowned Tirupparankundram Murugan Temple and performed prayers. He said he sought divine blessings for the continued progress of both Tamil Nadu and the country.
Referring to the reported death of devotee Puran Chandran while lighting a lamp at a temple pillar, PM Modi said he personally met the grieving family to offer his sympathies.
He prayed for peace for the departed soul and alleged that the episode highlighted injustice under the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam administration.
He maintained that truth would ultimately prevail and asserted that Lord Murugan’s victory was certain.
Rally Speech Sets Tone for Assembly Election
At a large NDA meeting in Mandela Nagar, Madurai district, PM Modi began his address by repeatedly chanting ‘Vetri Vel’, drawing enthusiastic responses from party workers.
He described the upcoming Assembly election as a defining juncture for the state.
PM Modi argued that political opponents dreaming of returning to office would face disappointment and claimed that voters had resolved to unseat the DMK and support the NDA. He criticised the DMK’s record since its 2021 mandate, saying it had not translated its majority into effective governance.
PM Modi further contended that projects such as the Maduravoyal flyover and the Tuticorin port shipping channel had stalled under the earlier DMK-Congress dispensation and regained momentum only after the NDA formed the government at the Centre.
He also pledged firmer action on law and order, particularly concerning crimes against women.
Senior NDA leaders, including Edappadi K Palaniswami, were present at the event.
