Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on June 20 to participate in a programme at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district marking the completion of two years of the BJP government in the state.
President Droupadi Murmu will accompany him, making it a rare occasion for Odisha to host the country’s two highest constitutional functionaries together.
The visit will likely draw national attention to Odisha and highlight the state’s growing role in India’s political and developmental landscape.
After arriving in Odisha, the Prime Minister and the President will likely visit Pahadpur, the President’s in-laws’ village in Mayurbhanj district, at around 11:15 AM.
The two leaders will offer prayers at the Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera sacred groves and visit the Skill Centre and Pahadpur School.
The visit, however, aims to highlight initiatives focused on education, skill development, and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural areas.
At around 1 PM, the President and Prime Minister will attend the ‘Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara’ programme in Rairangpur, marking two years of the Odisha government.
During the event, developmental projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore across sectors such as energy, industrial infrastructure, roads, drinking water, health, education, tourism, and irrigation will be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid.
Key projects include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project, the Stage-II expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station, the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited project at Lakhanpur, and a municipal solid waste-based compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar.
Several healthcare, irrigation, road and public transport projects, including a 300-bed district hospital in Boudh and 24 Atal Bus Stands, will also open to the public.
Extensive security arrangements are in place across Mayurbhanj ahead of the high-profile visit.
