PM Modi Praises Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma On Birthday For Strengthening State’s Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday wished Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on his birthday, commending his efforts to energise the state’s development journey and fulfil the aspirations of its youth.

PM Modi took to the social media platform X to convey his greetings, stating, “Best wishes to Rajasthan CM Shri Bhajanlal Sharma Ji on his birthday. He is making noteworthy efforts to add vigour to the state’s development journey and fulfil the dreams of the youth. May he be blessed with good health and a long life.”

Bhajanlal Sharma became Rajasthan’s 14th Chief Minister in December 2023, assuming office shortly after winning the Sanganer Assembly seat in the 2023 elections. Remarkably, he took charge as Chief Minister after becoming an MLA for the first time, a rare achievement in the state’s political history.

He defeated Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj by a margin of nearly 48,000 votes, while the BJP secured 115 of the 200 seats in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, returning to power.

Grassroots Political Journey

Sharma began his political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

At 27, he won the election for Sarpanch of his village, marking the start of his involvement in public life.

Sharma has long associated himself with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and considers himself close to the RSS leadership and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

During his early political years, Sharma actively participated in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement, and authorities jailed him for his involvement.

He later held several responsibilities within the RSS, BJP, and ABVP, gradually strengthening his political profile.

Sharma first contested the Assembly elections in 2003 from the Nadbai constituency but lost. He later served four times as the BJP’s State General Secretary and as State Vice President in 2014.

He played a key role in organisational strengthening in East Rajasthan and assisted Amit Shah during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.

His dedication and organisational acumen culminated in his appointment as Rajasthan’s Chief Minister on December 12, 2023, with his official oath coinciding with his birthday on December 15.
