Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reached out to India’s medal winners at the ongoing Paralympics in Paris, expressing the nation’s pride in their achievements.
PM Modi’s Message to Paralympic Athletes
After concluding his day’s engagements in Brunei Darussalam, PM Modi made a special call to India’s Paralympic champions. “India is proud of our athletes,” he wrote on Instagram, sharing his congratulations.
India has secured 15 medals in the Paris Paralympics so far, including three gold, five silver, and seven bronze. Para-badminton has been the most successful sport for India, bringing home five medals, followed by para-shooting with four medals.

Personal Conversations with Medalists
The Prime Minister personally spoke with several medalists, including Yogesh Kathuniya (silver, discus throw), Sumit Antil (gold, javelin throw), Sheetal Devi (bronze, archery mixed team), and Rakesh Kumar (bronze, archery mixed team).
During their conversation, Yogesh Kathuniya expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister’s time. PM Modi responded, “I live for the country. If any Indian excels anywhere in the world, I feel a deep connection with them.”
Sumit Antil also spoke with the Prime Minister, saying, “Your words always motivate us… I will strive to excel in the next competition.” PM Modi, acknowledging Antil’s Army background, replied, “The country lives in your heart. With our honesty and dedication, India will be recognized globally.”

PM Modi’s Historic Visit to Brunei
Earlier on Tuesday, PM Modi arrived at Bandar Seri Begawan Airport for a two-day visit to Brunei, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Southeast Asian nation. The visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Brunei.
Upon arrival, PM Modi was given a ceremonial welcome and warmly received by Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Crown Prince and Senior Minister in Brunei’s Prime Minister’s Office.
