Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo on Wednesday reaffirmed their resolve to promote responsible and talent-driven artificial intelligence.
The two leaders held comprehensive bilateral talks in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Orpo arrived in India earlier in the day to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026.
He met Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House on the margins of the global gathering.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in sustainability, digital transformation, advanced AI research, and ethical technological innovation.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, both leaders explored avenues to deepen strategic collaboration.
They examined how India’s skilled workforce could further reinforce bilateral engagement. They agreed that talent mobility and knowledge exchange remain central to future growth.

They assessed opportunities in digitalisation and sustainable development. They also considered frameworks for responsible AI deployment.
Prime Minister Modi commended Finland’s emergence as a dynamic innovation hub in artificial intelligence.
He acknowledged the Nordic nation’s growing stature in advanced research and ethical governance standards.
Both leaders reiterated their shared commitment to harnessing technology for sustainable and inclusive progress.
The five-day AI Impact Summit has drawn participation from more than 110 countries and 30 international organisations.
Around 20 Heads of State or Government and nearly 45 ministers have joined the deliberations.
The summit aims to align AI initiatives with India’s civilisational ethos of ‘Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya’ and the broader global principle of AI for Humanity.
This edition marks the fourth in the series, following earlier summits hosted in the United Kingdom at Bletchley Park in 2023, South Korea in 2024, and France in 2025.
The forum enables leaders to address AI’s ethical, economic, and societal implications. It also strengthens partnerships in digital technology, culture, tourism, and maritime cooperation.
Additional dignitaries are scheduled to arrive, reinforcing the summit’s emphasis on collaborative and inclusive AI-led development.
